Predicting the Wrestlemania 34 Card

Wrestlemania is the WWE’s biggest yearly event and is one of the most eagerly anticipated shows in the whole of Sports Entertainment. This year is expected to be bigger than ever with so many feuds brewing and a whole host of dream matches on the horizon. Here is what I think the match ard will look like and how the matches will go.

Cedric Alexander vs Hideo Itami (Cruiserweight Championship)

I can see the Cruiserweight Championship match opening the show much like it has been doing for most pay-per-views this year and like it did at Mania 33 when Neville faced off against Austin Aries. The current title is vacant due to Enzo Amore’s suspension and there is a tournament taking place at the moment to determine who the new champ will be. I can see this tournament’s final being held at Mania and I believe that Cedric Alexander and Hideo Itami are the company’s two Cruiserweight front runners. Expect a spot filled match between two fantastic athletes with Itami coming out on top to rule the 205 Live division. WINNER: HIDEO ITAMI

Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal

Last year 33 superstars entered this match and it saw Mojo Rawley take the victory after a bit of help from New England Patriots’ Tight End Rob Gronkowski. No, seriously. This year I am expecting equal levels of ridiculousness with hopefully a couple of big returns lined up too. I think Jeff Hardy and Big Cass would be great picks to return for this and I am expecting Cass to get a big push so if he’s in it, he will win it. WINNER: BIG CASS

The Bar (C) vs The Revival vs The Club for the Raw Tag Team Championships

I am expecting WWE to book a multi-team tag match to ensure they can fit as much talent into the card as possible and I feel like Raw would be the best brand to look for a match like that. The Revival are generating some decent heat at the moment and with the recent formation of The Club (Balor, Gallows and Anderson) I think Gallows and Anderson will propel back into the title picture. The Bar are surely obvious favourites for this but I am wondering how much longer we can see them rotating titles with people before some new faces come and mix it up. Those new faces could well be Wilder and Dawson. WINNER: THE REVIVAL

Bobby Roode (C) vs Dolph Ziggler for the United States Championship

Dolph Ziggler’s situation is utterly ridiculous. He won the US Title at Night Of Champions only to walk out of the company two days later and vacate the title. He then didn’t appear until Royal Rumble where he was the number 30 entrant and expected to get a huge push. Alas, he was eliminated after two minutes and is back in the mid-card again. I think a feud with Bobby Roode would do wonders for both of their momentum’s and a title match at Mania would be a great crowning moment for them. I have Dolph winning this because I feel like the company are plotting a major move with him soon. WINNER: DOLPH ZIGGLER

Charlotte Flair (C) vs Becky Lynch for the Smackdown Women’s Championship

Now I am excited about this. It is a bit of a stab in the dark because Charlotte’s Mania opponent is entirely unknown, I mean it could still be Asuka or Ronda Rousey. But I have gone for Becky Lynch for the sole reason that they are the two best female competitors on Smackdown right now and could bring the house down with a fantastic showing. Incoming plot twist, however, I expect Charlotte to win but be battered and bruised enough to lose her title to a Carmella Money in the Bank cash in. Yep, it’s happening at Mania people, trust me. WINNER: CHARLOTTE AND A SUCCESSFUL CARMELLA CASH IN

Woken Matt Hardy vs Bray Wyatt as Sister Abigail vs Demon Finn Balor

Now hear me out. This has the potential to be one of the best feuds in recent years for the obvious reason of how weird WWE could make it. Think The Final Deletion meets The House of Horrors match meets Five Nights At Freddie’s. That’s how I would book it and I think having Demon Finn in this match too means that a defeat for Matt or Bray wouldn’t completely destroy any momentum they can gain with their characters as well as giving the crowd what they want in getting Finn over. WINNER: DEMON FINN BALOR

The Uso’s (C) vs The Bludgeon Brothers for the Smackdown Tag Team Championships

Last week on Smackdown we saw a very brief face-off between the two teams and it made me excited about what they could do with it as a rivalry. The Uso’s have dominated the Smackdown tag team scene for a while now and with Gable & Benjamin surely out of the equation you have to feel like there is a free path for Harper and Rowan to move into. I can see The Bludgeon Brothers taking it but I really hope it isn’t a squash match because The Uso’s don’t deserve that. WINNER: THE BLUDGEON BROTHERS

The Miz (C) vs Braun Strowman for the Intercontinental Championship

The Miz is a prime time player in the WWE and always knows how to put on a show. He has also done an incredible job of making the IC Title a relevant one within the company and ensuring that people don’t look down on it, hence why they put it on Roman Reigns not long ago. With that being said he is still a heel and gets loud boos from the crowd so a nice feelgood story for Mania would be Braun destroying him and taking his title, getting his revenge for the TLC betrayal. WINNER: BRAUN STROWMAN

Kevin Owens & Daniel Bryan vs Sami Zayn & Shane McMahon

This one is a serious long shot but that’s only because of the ongoing question marks around Daniel Bryan. Rumour has it that he’s been cleared to wrestle by doctors out of the WWE but Vince McMahon’s doctors aren’t so sure. Shane McMahon will surely make an appearance because, as you will also see later on in my card, the McMahon family absolutely adore making it about themselves. With that being said I think he and Zayn will come up short against Owens and Bryan, two truly world class wrestlers. WINNER: KEVIN OWENS & DANIEL BRYAN

Sasha Banks (C) vs Asuka for the Raw Women’s Championship

So you may be thinking to yourselves ‘wait a minute, I thought Alexa Bliss was the champion?’ This is true, but I believe Banks will take it at Elimination Chamber, setting up a match with The Empress of Tomorrow and winner of the inaugural Women’s Royal Rumble. They had an absolute classic the night after Rumble on Raw and I would expect this to be just as good if not better, with Banks just coming up short and Asuka continuing her domination of the female roster. WINNER: ASUKA

John Cena vs The Undertaker

Five years ago and this would have easily been the main event but we have had to wait this long to see the two greatest superstars of this generation go head-to-head at Mania. Now I must stress that nothing has been confirmed, Undertaker didn’t even leave the slightest hint at Raw’s 25th anniversary show and he wasn’t a Rumble entrant as was quietly expected. If rumours are to be believed, though, we could finally see these two titans clash and I can’t see it going any other way than a Taker victory, they cannot have him lose three Mania matches after that incredible streak. WINNER: THE UNDERTAKER

AJ Styles (C) vs Shinsuke Nakamura for the WWE Championship

Dave Meltzer gave Kenny Omega vs Kazuchika Okada the first ever six star rating at NJPW’s Wrestle Kingdom 11 PPV and if this match is just half as good as I know it will be I would expect a similar rating here. AJ and Shinsuke are, for me, two of the three best wrestlers in the world along with the aforementioned Omega and this will be the first time the two square off since Wrestle Kingdom 10 where, as expected they tore the house down. I am stupidly excited for this one and I think Shinsuke will take it in an instant classic, perhaps the best match since Cena vs Punk at MITB 2011 if booked correctly? WINNER: SHINSUKE NAKAMURA

The Rock & Ronda Rousey vs Triple H & Stephanie McMahon

How do you follow up AJ vs Shinsuke? Well if you’re WWE there is one simple answer to that, just throw The Rock in there for old times sake. Of course the spotlight will be on former UFC champion and professional Wrestlemania sign pointer Ronda Rousey as this will more than likely be her debut in the company. Who better to face off against than the COO Triple H and his wife Stephanie McMahon (see what I mean about the McMahon family). I expect Ronda’s partner to be a ‘surprise’ to set up a big pop for big Dwayne’s big return. Ronda and Rock will take the victory and will make Ronda look immensely strong to maybe set up a clash with Asuka later down the line. WINNER: THE ROCK & RONDA ROUSEY

Brock Lesnar (C) vs Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship

Question for you all. How do you suck the life out of a WWE crowd after such a good Wrestlemania card? Well you simply just put Roman Reigns in the main event of course. This match is the worst kept secret in WWE history as we have known it’ll happen for a very long time so now it’s just at the point where we want it to be over and done with. Roman is obviously going to win to stop Brock’s title reign and thus make The Big Dog look indestructible. He will kick out of one or two F-5’s before hitting big sweaty angry Brock with about 47 Superman Punches and walking out of the arena with the Universal Title, to the soundtrack of 70,000 boos. WINNER: ROMAN REIGNS
